Universal ecosystem for Creators and Users

Sithara IoT supports machine and plant manufacturers and automation designers to create IoT networks as parts of automated production or infrastructure installations. It allows them to offer end customers an ecosystem with which they can conveniently manage and monitor the components and devices, without interfering with plant operation. It also allows equipment makers to centrally monitor and control the individual components during operations, allowing them to offer maintenance as a pay-per-use service to their customers.
Providers of automation equipment or IoT platforms can include Sithara IoT in their product portfolio, enabling their customers to speed up and simplify construction, maintenance and repair of IoT networks and gain vendor independence.

Sithara IoT makes it easy to manage, monitor and maintain cyber-physical devices of any brand or make, in IoT networks.
Sithara IoT provides support for adding the required connectivity to an IoT device. This greatly reduces the time and expenditure required for implementation and improves economic feasibility, security and reactivity.

Equipment operators with the need to manage devices within their IoT networks may use various device support platforms.
Sithara IoT is as adaptable to cloud platforms as it is to device manufacturers or communication protocols. It allows users to configure multiple platforms as data sources or targets, acting as a central device information hub and greatly reducing administration.

One tool for multiple protocols

In plant or factory installations as well as in areas like home automation and mobile automation, building complete systems from scratch is usually not feasible. Devices and machinery are accumulated over time, featuring various forms of connectivity. Sithara App allows users to make the devices available for monitoring and control by scanning the QR Code or tapping the NFC tag on the device or using Bluetooth. It also supports importing certificates or manual entry for provisioning.
Sithara App will be supported on mobile phones (iOS, Android) and embedded devices (e.g. QT) and supports user authentication, user roles and multilingual designs.
Sithara IoT supports various protocols including BLE, MQTT, CoAP and OPC UA so it can acquire, translate and relay data from various sources, including legacy equipment.

One tool for all use(r)s

Additions and modifications to a Sithara IoT network can be performed without updating the Sithara App.
This includes updating UI designs provided by device vendors, production facility administrators or service providers or delivering multilingual content to Sithara App users, including dynamically adding new language resources.
Sithara App users can combine UI elements of devices from different vendors into a single view/dashboard to control heterogeneous IoT networks with great ease.
Sithara IoT allows user action tracking via blockchain technology to support audit logs.

What does the Sithara-IoT ecosystem include?

Sithara App is a mobile app for the management and control of IoT devices. It supports multi-user scenarios, including different layouts for different users or user roles on the same mobile device. The device/product representation can be supplied by the device, from a database providing the live data, or from other referred data storage. The App supports content updates without App republishing. It is available with Sithara standard design or as a customizable version for white-labeling.

Sithara UI Designer is a Online tool used by device or equipment manufacturers for fast and individual Sithara App layout design. Sithara IoT features “hot loading” for fast and simple launching of changes or additions to all users after testing directly on the App without modifying the Sithara App.

Sithara Edge Connectors turn devices and equipment into smart, IoT-ready objects. While contemporary machines and devices typically come with the sensors and communication technology required to communicate to the Sithara App, legacy equipment in brownfield environments may need new sensors/actors and additional hardware for cloud connectivity.
To help customers fulfill retrofit requirements, the Sithara-IoT ecosystem offers two solutions: one is a Bluetooth / NFC Starter Kit with I/O signals to be controlled by the Sithara App. Using the Sithara Designer, users can modify its generic user interface or design their own screens. And the other is a variety of prefabricated standard or customized IoT Modules.

Sithara Microservices make it easy to integrate IoT Devices with smaller open-source and free platforms possibly running on local servers as well as cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure . This helps users to ensure the scalability of their system.
Sithara Cloud Plugins will be available for various cloud solutions, minimizing the effort for changing from one platform to another.

How many devices can I manage with the Sithara App?

We have not explored this to its limits yet but can confidently say: "a three-digit number".
 

Can I manage devices from different manufacturers?

Yes, you can manage all devices which implement a Sithara endpoint, and allow access by the generic Sithara App. Manufacturers may also choose to allow only the connection to their own customized version of Sithara App.

Do I need to update the App when I want to add support for newly developed IoT devices?

No, the App is generic and will retrieve the information about the new device and it’s app layout from the device itself, or from a repository in the cloud.

How much effort is it to add access to my IoT device via Sithara App?

This depends on the communication technology the device uses. For devices equipped with cloud connectivity like MQTT, the effort is very low, for instance when the Sithara App can directly access the same MQTT broker. Another way to reduce time to market is to use readymade communication modules with some GPIOs to interact with the device. Creating the UI layout for the device in Sithara App is supported by the Sithara Designer and does not require coding.

How can I change the UI for an existing device and roll it out to the users?

Currently, Sithara IoT supports direct link to devices via Bluetooth LE, or connection via MQTT. Other protocols like HTTPS, OPCUA or CoAP will follow.
